A little history…

For over 25 years DJ Gary Carter has been supplying high quality mobile disco entertainment for hundreds of weddings throughout Exeter, Devon and the surrounding counties.

The majority of our wedding customers choose to book our services as they have already been to one of our performances, or because we have come highly recommended by a friend or venue.

Setting the scene…

Generally we’ll start the evening with gentle lighting and soft music to build a warm and inviting atmosphere while you welcome your guests as they arrive.

During this time we discreetly observe our audience to monitor their responses to help choose the music and pick the right time to really get your party started.

Wedding Disco

Music

Most couples entrust us to use our skill and years of experience to select a variety of great music suitable for their wedding disco.

Ensuring we play something for everyone, we vary the style and pace of the music throughout the evening.

The music we chose will be influenced primarily by the response we see on the dance floor. But also from music requests we receive from you and your guests on the night.

Our Collection

Our huge music collection includes thousands of all time classic tunes, right the way through to DJ only pre-release tracks.

We usually have the entire top 40 and will make every effort to obtain any music you request should we not already own it.

Where possible, all our music is in a lossless format such as FLAC which simply sounds better!

Playlists

If you would like more input into the music played during your wedding disco, simply send us a list of music you would like.

We will incorporate your chosen music into your evening.

Couples usually include 1 or 2 of these:

  • Your 1st dance music
  • Father & bride dance
  • Stag & hen memorable music
  • Requests from your guests
  • Your favourite music
  • General music guidelines

When creating your list please keep in mind the music you like to listen to at home may not be so good for people to dance to on the night.

Sound System

High quality touring and theatre grade sound equipment will be used. In terms of music power we provide up to a true 4.2kW system. That equals clean crisp sound with plenty of volume if needed.

Wedding DJ

DJ Gary Carter, our highly experienced wedding DJ has performed at hundreds of weddings. Always polite, professional, reliable and dressed appropriately smart too.

 

 

Lighting & Effects

We’ll supply a range of professional disco lighting effects and colour wash lighting to best suit your venue.

Lighting is computer controlled which enables us to switch scenes on demand. Slow movement and colour changing during slow dances, for example.

Effects such as strobes, stage blinders, 3D colour lasers and smoke can also be included where needed. Venue restrictions may apply on some effects.

Optional Extras

Early Setup

All our wedding discos include a 2 hour setup period immediately prior to the disco (or background music) start time.

However, we are very flexible. If you prefer, we can setup while you are at the church, or at a time that is more convenient for you. If there is no room for an early setup, we will work closely with venue staff to ensure a quick room turnaround for the evening.

Background Music

Soft music playing in the background is a great way to keep a good atmosphere for you and your guests to enjoy before the evening entertainment starts.

Bubble Machines

Bubbles look great during your first dance and they help keep any children entertained too!

Extra Time

Often parties can be more successful than you expect, with guests still going strong at the end of the night.

For this reason we are usually able to offer our disco continuation service. The rate and amount of time can be agreed with us on the night. This service is subject to licensing laws and will require the approval of the venue owner or management.

Radio Microphone

A high quality radio microphone can be made available for speeches once we have completed our setup.

There is no charge for this service. However, depending on your timings we may need to setup earlier which might incur an extra cost.

    Children's Disco

    The Disco

    When you hire a children’s disco from Streetbeat you aren’t just booking a disco, but rather a full entertainment package.

    Not only do we provide a great disco, but most importantly we supply and organise all the games and competitions. This ensures the children have lots of fun throughout the party and you have less to worry about!

    Read on to find out more about what we include.

    Music

    We play a selection of great music appropriate for the age group. Music includes the best chart and ‘trendy’ music popular at the time, mixed with a good selection of party favourites. If you wish, you can send a playlist of your favourite songs, and requests can be made to the DJ on the day.

    Sound quality is very important, so we only use high quality theatre and touring grade speakers and audio equipment.

    Lighting Effects

    Good disco lighting is one of the main ‘wow’ factors at a party. This is especially true when used with a smoke machine (see below). We include a variety of disco lighting effects which is great for building a good party atmosphere. But also, we use stage or audience lighting to highlight the scene for some of our games.

    We can include a 3D RGB laser which is a very cool effect. It has a very wide angle to cover large areas of your venue. It projects colourful patterns and produces stunning effects the kids will love.

    Smoke Machine

    Kids love a cloud of white smoke and always run in to it, but the real reason for using a smoke machine is to make the disco lighting look amazing. A little smoke allows you to see the beams of light moving through the air which helps create a fantastic party atmosphere.

    A smoke machine is included with all our disco bookings. However, it is important to check with your venue if a smoke machine can be used. Their use in some venues will be restricted.

    Timings

    Based on a 2 hour party our disco has been designed specifically for boys and girls aged 6 to 12 years. We are completely flexible to your needs, but we find the best timings for a children’s disco are as follows:

    Example (based on a 2pm to 4pm party)

    • 1.00pm to 2.00pm – Arrive and setup
    • 2.00pm to 3.00pm – Disco & games
    • 3.00pm to 3.15pm – Food & the cake
    • 3.15pm to 4.00pm – Disco & games
    • 4.00pm to 5.00pm – Pack down
    Top Tip - Booking a hall
    • For daytime parties ensure your venue has good curtains, a dark room will make the disco lighting look at its best and help generate a better party atmosphere.
    • Some venues do not allow special effects such as smoke, bubbles and snow. Please check before booking.
    • When booking your venue, be sure to allow time for setting up. We usually require 1 hour before the start and 1 hour after the end to pack down.

    Top Tip - Saving money!
    • The biggest savings can be made by holding a joint party and sharing the costs with a friend or colleague.
    • Village and community halls are usually among the cheapest venues to hire.
    • Try to avoid Friday & Saturday evenings as these are more expensive.

      The Disco

      Our school discos come as a complete entertainment package, designed specifically for children of primary school age.

      DJ Gary Carter provides an exciting mix of great music, fun packed games and a great disco light show.

      Our disco equipment setup for schools is very flexible. This ensures we supply a suitably sized show for your hall or venue.

      If you have any special requirements please let us know when you place your booking.

      We play a variety of great music appropriate for the age group of the school children in attendance.

      We include the best chart and ‘trendy’ music popular at the time, mixed with a good selection of party favourites to keep the school disco in full swing.

      We’re happy to accept music requests from the children and teachers at the disco. If you wish you’re welcome to send a playlist prior to the event which can include music relevant to school productions or other activities.

      Over 25 years entertaining in schools.

      Experience and confidence are both vitally important to provide a successful school disco.

      A balance of interesting activities and a strong interaction between the DJ and the children allows for a fun party, but also brings a level of control.

      Over the years we have fine tuned our school discos to provide such a balance.

      Performance Times

      We can perform for the whole school at once which is fine for small schools. However, it is better to split larger schools into 2 or even 3 separate discos, usually one for each age group.

      Example:

      • Key Stage 1 – 6.00pm to 7.00pm
      • Key Stage 2 – 7.15pm to 8.30pm

      In this example there is a short gap between discos to allow time for KS1 to leave and KS2 to arrive.

      This makes the event more manageable and enables our DJ to target the music, games & competitions to the appropriate age groups making it more enjoyable for the children.

      For children of primary school age we recommend that any individual disco should last no longer than 2 hours. For multiple discos we recommend each group to have between 1 and 1½ hours.

        Teenagers can be pretty demanding when it comes to trendy music. But this is no problem as we carry the entire top 40 and regularly receive pre-released music from our specialist DJ only supplier.

        Our huge music collection stretches back many generations so we can play all time greats and party classics too.

        Our audio format of choice is FLAC, so you can be sure of a high sound quality right from the source.

        If you have lots of tunes in mind simply email us a playlist prior to your party. We can then mix the music around your list.

        Don’t forget we are happy to take requests at the party too.

        Introducing a theme to your party is a great idea and will help create a great party atmosphere.

        For example; UV themed parties look amazing with everyone glowing in ultra bright colours. Your guests simply wear dayglow clothing and face paints, and we supply the UV lighting to make it all work.

        We have listed some of the most popular themes. But, of course, the list is endless and only limited to your imagination.
